Comic-Con Candids by Mathieu Young
Looking good in costume can be a full-time job, just as strenuous and exhausting as actual superheroing, if not moreso because actual superheroes don’t have to smile and pose with fans. While at San Diego Comic-Con last year, Mathieu got a little bored with the regular: ‘throw up a gang sign with Sailor Moon” shot and decided to go for the more candid captures of costume-goers taking a much needed break from the convention chaos. His photos take a much needed moment to calmly reflect on the fact that beneath those swaggering veneers and spandexed posturing, there lies the hearts and souls of real people most likely desperate to strip off their garrish attire for a much-needed pee break.
